23 Dec Announcing new sensitive information types for Microsoft 365 compliance center
You will soon see additional sensitive information types appear within the Microsoft 365 compliance center that you can use to create more granular and accurate data classification policies.
When this will happen
Microsoft will begin the rollout in early January and expect to be complete it by the end of January 2021.
How this will affect your organization
A sensitive information type is defined by a pattern that can be identified by a regular expression or a function. Data loss prevention (DLP) includes many sensitive information types that are ready for you to use.
With this update, we have added 49 new sensitive information types.
We have also unbundled EU driver’s license, EU passport, and EU SSN. You can now replace EU driver’s license, EU passport, and EU SSN sensitive information types with SITs for specific countries. This step is recommended but optional.
What you need to do to prepare
You can begin to use the new sensitive information types once they appear. You might want to notify your compliance center users about this new capability and update your training and documentation as appropriate.
